This book took me for a ride and I loved it!
I pride myself on predicting what’s going to happen in movies, tv shows and even books. If you ask Cody, he’ll tell you how good I am at it. I pick up the smallest details that typically go unnoticed and use them to predict where a story is heading.
When I fail to see something, I get mad at myself.
With this book, I can’t help but laugh because there were plenty of twists and turns and I didn’t predict a single one of them! So I’m taking my hat off to Lucy Foley because she did an incredible job at putting little mysteries in these characters story lines to be discovered by the reader.

I want to keep things vague because I really don’t want to spoil this read for anyone because this is a special one read for sure. If you have the time to sit down and read it instead of listening to it, I suggest consuming it that way.
Usually a story has one unexpected twist in it. Maybe two.
But “The Guest List” had so many that just when I thought the worst of it had to be over, Lucy slapped me with another one!
As the reader, it’s your job to figure out who’s dead as well as who did it. Was a character you loved murdered by one that you hated? Or was a character you hated murdered by someone you loved? Don’t plan on finding out until the very last chapter.
When I finish a book and still feel very attached to the characters in it and want to know more about what happened to them after I put the novel back on the shelf, that’s how I know it’s worth sharing/talking about. And personally, I think this book deserves a sequel! There’s still so much to talk about. The ending isn’t exactly happy, depending on who you were rooting for.
But even though there isn’t any talk about a follow up story, there is a film to be made! That’s right. The Guest List will have a film adaptation. Filming is nowhere close to beginning, however. Lucy Foley’s, “The Hunting Party”, will become a film before they start out on this venture.
So it looks like there’s a new book added to the list.
Overview From Barnes and Nobles
The bride – The plus one – The best man – The wedding planner – The bridesmaid – The body
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine, or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.
But perfection is for plans, and people are all too human. As the champagne is popped and the festivities begin, resentments and petty jealousies begin to mingle with the reminiscences and well wishes. The groomsmen begin the drinking game from their school days. The bridesmaid not-so-accidentally ruins her dress. The bride’s oldest (male) friend gives an uncomfortably caring toast.
And then someone turns up dead. Who didn’t wish the happy couple well? And perhaps more important, why?
Sounds good! Need to read it before the movie comes out!
