WE HAVE A CLOSING DATE!
We started this journey last February and the end is officially in sight. We are scheduled to close on our new home on January 28th and we’re definitely counting down the days.

Last week we moved out of our home we lived in the past 4 years and into a rental we anticipated being in until we moved into our new home but after just one night in the rental, we knew it wasn’t a right fit for our family.
The biggest issue was it was a townhouse located on a main street and Maverick found it really easy to open the front door and go outside on her own. That terrified me! I put Carter down for a nap and went to take a shower and the whole time I was freaking out about where Maverick was. It’s not something I wanted to worry about for 6 weeks.
The townhouse also had paper-thin walls! You could hear everything going on in your neighbors home and considering we have a toddler who throws a temper tantrum at bedtime currently, Maverick, I’m talking about you, I anticipated lots of noise complaints. Especially because our neighbors didn’t give off very welcoming vibes.
There were a ton of other reasons but those were some big ones we were facing. Luckily, Cody found a home the very next day and our current rental let us out of our contract, no questions asked. (I’m guessing we already had noise complaints or something.)
But with that in our rearview mirror, we’re all settled into a 4 bedroom house now and we even put up a small Christmas tree for the holidays.
We plan to move into the new house the first week of February.
We’re going to send in some contractors to do some things post-closing that our builders wouldn’t do. For example, we’re adding crown and wall moldings in areas of the house and we’re painting the girl’s bedrooms as well. We’re also building out the laundry room and creating mudroom lockers in the garage for everyone to put their coats, shoes, etc.
Adding all the final details to make the house a home before we start living in it.
We’ve called this new house our “forever home” but I wouldn’t call it my “dream home”. As much as I love everything we’ve put together for this house, it is only a semi-custom so there were a lot of things we wanted to do that our builders wouldn’t let us. Some things we’ll be able to add on our own but some things we won’t. Regardless, I’m extremely proud of our soon-to-be home and feel so humbled that I was able to do something like this. I hope the girls love this new house and I pray we make lots of very happy memories within its wall!
I can’t wait to show you all the things we’ve done in detail but for now, here are some pictures.
